Freddie decided that it could only be a dramatic exit if Prior left alone and he had no intention of letting Prior leave alone. Of course, he didn't let Prior know that right away. Instead, he waited until they were outside before catching Prior's arm at elbow to stop him. He hadn't even stopped to consider Lex or his taunts. His eyes were for Prior alone.

"As far as I could see," he said once he'd stopped Prior, "you were the one doing the provoking." His voice was low and the look he was giving Prior was intense.
